"But I'm Not Really a Leader"

“But I'm not really a leader.” That is something I heard recently from a college girl. God gave us all different gifts and for better or worse some of us are chosen to be leaders. This particular student might not see herself as a leader but she almost naturally takes a leadership role without even knowing it.

My advice to those students who think they are not leaders but end up being leaders is to grow where you are planted. Occasionally, in our lives other people see things before we do. If you were to ask other students or adults in our ministry about this girl, I spoke of earlier, they would all say, “Oh, she’s a great leader.” That is always confirmation that you are where you are supposed to be. Accept the responsibility God gave you and bloom!

It actually reminds me of my son’s favorite book right now, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.” In the book the caterpillar eats and eats and eats and then finally he turns into a beautiful butterfly. As leaders you need to soak up all the godly counsel you receive, read everything you can, and pray like no other to be the beautiful, perfect, and unique leader God has made you to be.
