Chris and I just got back from a college ministry retreat that was in New Braunfels, Texas, at T Bar M Resort (www.tbarm.com). It was a nice time to get away. We had about 5 hours of free time on Friday so we paid a visit to the outlet malls in San Marcos.
The retreat itself was good. I met one of Chris' teachers (John Strapp) from one of his seminary classes. John has been doing college ministry forever! I don't know where he started but I know a lot of time was spent at Texas Tech (they need Jesus as most Aggies know). But you can't talk really bad about Tech because that is where John graduated from :) He is now the state director for Oklahoma BCMs.
Ben Hines was also there. He traveled all over the country visiting different college campuses and college ministry and now he's writing a book about what all he learned on that trip: 2 semesters, 180 colleges, and 44 states. Ben's blog is: http://exploringcollegeministry.wordpress.com.
We also met several people from different churches and colleges and just hear their stories. This week will be pretty busy for us: Freedom is Sunday night, Monday night is Bachelor Bashing, Tuesday we are having students over for dinner and Breakaway is at Central also, Wednesday is church, Thursday is Upstream, and ... oh my gosh...Friday is open!
