House Projects

Once we had an address and each kid was going to have their own rooms I started working on some projects for their rooms.  Eli's room is a little difficult to make stuff for because it's done in Arkansas Razorback stuff but he also has old trucks in there too so I'm always looking for something to make that doesn't look too girly for him.

Eli's project board
A friend of mine used window shutters for her daughter a project board but shutters seemed kind of girly so I had to think of a manly project board.  Enter--chicken wire!  I found this open back frame on clearance at Hobby Lobby for $12.00, spray painted it red and stapled the chicken wire on the back.  I have some little clothes pins packed away some where to use instead of that giant clip in the picture.

Harper's door sign
This is an idea I took from an Etsy seller.  Her product was just the chalkboard used as a photo prop.  I asked my uncle if he could cut the shape out of wood and I would do the rest.  Instead he cut two boards and painted them for me!  I hot glued the tulle on the front and finished it off!  The second board he cut for me is in my kitchen.  It's nothing fancy so I didn't take a picture.

Harper's mirror
My same aunt and uncle that did the boards for me had a massive indoor yard sale and once the dust settled I went "picking" (you know the show American Pickers) in what was left over!  No one bought this mirror so I took it off their hands.  I spray painted it purple and tied some tulle at the top.  Right now it's hanging over Harper's dresser/changing table.

Harper's bow board
This is currently the most colorful thing in Harper's room (until her bedding is done anyways).  One of my mom's friends made Harper all of these adorable bows!  I bought the open back frame at Hobby Lobby for $7.00 (I think), spray painted it green, stapled ribbon to the back then the main fabric from Harper's bedding, and of course, added the tulle!

This is all I have done right now.  I still need to re-finish a dresser for Harper's room.  I'm planning on doing it this weekend.  I'm also on the hunt for a cheap, simple desk to re-finish for our bedroom.  I thought I found one on Craigslist but by the time I e-mailed the seller it was already gone!  But I'm still hunting!

The Newest Normal

We made it!  The movers arrived with our belongings a day early!  They called Saturday while Chris was driving back to my parent's house from Sonic to see if it would be okay if they dropped our stuff off that day?!  Of course it was okay!  Eli was taking a nap at my parent's house so instead of waking him up we left him there and headed north to meet the movers!

While they were still unloading boxes Chris started unpacking boxes.  Once the movers left we worked on Eli's room because we wanted it to be completely done when he arrived Sunday.  We got that done, went to MAD Pizza and ate a much needed dinner and took advantage of their wifi so Chris could get his new phone up and running.  Then of course, we had to go to Wal-Mart to pick up some things that didn't make the move.

We pretty much worked our tails off Saturday and Sunday so by Monday we only had Harper's room and the garage to finish.  By the way, it's Wednesday and we still need to work on those rooms.  While Chris was gone to a meeting today I went in Harper's room and then just turned around and walked out.  I don't even have the energy to tackle that project yet!  However, I do need to refinish her dresser before she arrives...mmmm, I should probably work on that soon.

We still have a couple of things to do to get really settled.  One is getting internet at home.  Who knew that Suddenlink in Bryan had such good deals on cable and internet?!  Right now I'm taking advantage of the Panera Bread that is 5 minutes from our house and their wifi.

Also, if there are any friends in NWA that need boxes let me know because we have a mountain of boxes in our garage that will just get thrown away if no one needs them.

House Pictures

This past Monday I found a house!!  I had a list of three houses in Rogers to look at.  When I showed up at the realtor's office two of them were no longer available and one was in a neighborhood he wouldn't live in.  His exact words were, "The house looks nice but I wouldn't live there," that's all I needed to hear.  So he had three more houses that were located in Bentonville for us to look at.  Of the three we looked at we chose the second one, filled out the application, and paid the deposit!  I am so glad it worked out that way!  When the leasing agent said, "Okay, it's yours," it felt like an actual weigh had been lifted!

I have included some pictures of the house below.  These were taken with my cell phone so they are not the best quality.

The living room.

The dining area

The kitchen.
We'll be looking for a fridge soon.  Either black or stainless steel.

The packers came to the house in Bryan and packed up everything.  The loading truck is supposed to arrive at 7:30 tomorrow morning.  Last Chris heard they should be delivering our belongings on Sunday!!!

We're Moving!!!

That’s right. The Plunkett’s are moving back to Arkansas! It’s been fun, Texas! Chris has accepted a position at Cross Church, Pinnacle Hills in Rogers to be the Minister to Young Singles. We are so excited about this! We are going to be so much closer to family and it is always exciting to see what God does in the lives of young adults!

Now, don’t get me wrong, we love Texas and Aggies will always have a special place in our heart but on Eli’s list of colleges will be University of Arkansas THEN Texas A & M. It is sad to leave Texas because we have so many good friends but we are looking forward to what God has in store in Northwest Arkansas.

This is my last week here. I’m going to Arkansas Sunday to start looking at houses and finding a new doctor so pray that is a seamless process! Chris will be staying here through Spring Break to tie up some loose ends then he’ll be heading north!
